National News: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has stepped up his attack on the BJP ahead of Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections. He accused the BJP of “mentally retiring” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and treating him as a liability. Kharge said Nitish is no longer given respect by his allies and that the BJP has already started sidelining him. He further added that Bihar elections will not only decide the state’s future but also start the downfall of the Modi-led government at the Centre.
Kharge accused the Election Commission and BJP of manipulating voter lists through the Special Intensive Revision process. He described it as “vote theft” designed to weaken opposition parties. According to him, Congress organized its extended Working Committee in Bihar, the land called the “mother of democracy,” to reaffirm its stand to protect both the Constitution and democracy. He reminded that the right to vote was hard-earned and now faces a big challenge.
Kharge also criticized the Modi government’s performance, saying the economic slowdown, rising unemployment, and social unrest are the result of its failures. He pointed out that the promise of creating two crore jobs remains unfulfilled, leaving youth frustrated. Policies like demonetisation and GST, he said, only harmed small traders and disrupted the economy. He linked India’s international struggles to what he described as Modi’s weak diplomacy. Kharge suggested that foreign relations have worsened under his leadership.
Kharge referred to ongoing global challenges, indirectly mentioning the US, where President Donald Trump has taken bold steps internationally. He said Modi’s foreign policy failures are visible because the very nations Modi called his “friends” are now causing India difficulties. He underlined that India needs stronger global positioning, but under Modi, the country’s respect abroad has suffered. He stressed that domestic issues like jobs and migration are linked to international reputation.
The Congress leader called BJP’s “double engine government” claim hollow. He argued that Bihar’s economic progress has been very poor despite being ruled by the NDA. He highlighted that the state never got a special financial package from the Centre. Kharge said Bihar’s high unemployment rate, which is over 15 percent, has forced lakhs of youth to migrate. He also accused the state government of running recruitment scams that triggered massive protests and police violence.
Kharge claimed that BJP no longer trusts Nitish Kumar and sees him as a political liability. He said Nitish has been “mentally retired” even before the elections. According to Kharge, cracks within the NDA are widening, and this could play a major role in the Bihar polls. He urged the people of Bihar to recognize that the alliance has failed to deliver. He argued that the so-called “double engine” is running out of power and credibility.
Kharge asserted that the 2025 Bihar elections will be a turning point for Indian politics. He said these elections will not only decide the fate of Bihar but also signal the decline of Modi’s governance at the national level. He urged voters to hold the BJP accountable for corruption, unemployment, and social unrest. Kharge emphasized that democracy and the Constitution must be protected and that Bihar can lead this change by voting wisely.
